Element Hotels opens 100th property

Element Hotels and Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, together with Utah-based commercial real estate development companies The Ritchie Group and Garn Development, have opened Le Méridien Salt Lake City Downtown and Element Salt Lake City Downtown. The dual-branded property is Element’s 100th global opening and its first in Salt Lake City, complementing its location in Moab, Utah. The property also marks the first Le Méridien in Utah, and the first hotel with a rooftop bar in the market. This first-ever combination of the two brands is managed by Azul Hospitality Group, a San Diego-based hospitality management platform.

The combined property was designed by the architectural team at HKS. Interiors were designed by Studio HBA. The architect of record is Beecher Walker.

Le Méridien Salt Lake City Downtown has a midcentury modern design elements combined with inspiration from Salt Lake City’s landscape of deep evergreens, golds and wood tones. Element Salt Lake City Downtown complements with studios and one-bedroom suites with nature-inspired design. Sustainability is integrated in an unobtrusive way with low-flow water features to reduce water consumption, electric vehicle charging stations and complimentary bike rentals.

The Le Méridien has 144 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and showers with emerald tiles. The Element has 126 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchens and the signature Heavenly beds. Accommodations have ergonomic design elements with modern touches and earth-toned colors. As part of the brand’s collaboration with Lettuce Grow, hydroponic gardening company, travelers will have direct access to free produce and herbs. Guests can collect their own green selections from an on-property Lettuce Grow Farmstand for use in their Rise breakfast or to bring back to their own in-room kitchens.

The dual-branded hotel’s signature restaurant, Adelaide, is an urban brasserie, while Van Ryder is the first full-scale hotel rooftop experience in Salt Lake City. 

The hotels are 6 miles from the airport and within 30 miles of several popular ski destinations including Brighton Ski, Solitude Mountain Resort, Alta Ski Area and Snowbird. The property is also adjacent to Vivint Arena, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, and close to the Salt Palace Convention Center. The property is located in The West Quarter, a new mixed-used development that connects two halves of downtown with a mid-block pedestrian road called Quarter Row.
