Highgate opens Hawaii’s first Renaissance Hotel

Hotel management, investment and development company Highgate has opened the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa on Oahu.

The 39-story property has 187 rooms and suites and 112 residences as well as the Uhiwai Spa, Oahu's first traditional Japanese ofuro.

"We are proud to introduce Renaissance Hotels to the island of Oahu with the opening of Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa," Jennifer Connell, vice president and global brand lead, Renaissance Hotels, said in a statement. "In a city buzzing with new and exciting retail, restaurants and more, this is a property and a brand that will not only match the energy and vibrancy of the destination but also support its continued growth by shining a light on the businesses and people that make this neighborhood—and the island overall—such a special place."

Guestrooms and residences have floor-to-ceiling glass windows, deep soaking tubs and Toto washlets. Premier residences have kitchens with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.

The hotel’s culinary programming has been curated by Highgate and TableOne Hospitality, led by restaurateur Patric Yumul. The 6,700-square-foot restaurant Mara has a Mediterranean menu prepared with local Hawaiian ingredients. The space includes a full-service bar and lounge along with outdoor dining facilities.

The Coral Club Lounge on the 15th floor serves breakfast, midday snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Outdoor dining is available at Sway, the pool, deck, bar and grill. The lobby also has a cafe serving coffee.

Wellness

The eighth-floor Sky Deck includes a full-service spa, meditation gardens, fitness center with LifeFitness and Peloton equipment, glass-enclosed yoga studio and an outdoor MoveStrong strength training experience. The Uhiwai Spa includes Oahu's first traditional Japanese ofuro indoor and outdoor soaking tubs, Himalayan salt saunas, steam rooms and cold plunge baths.

The outdoor Sky Deck has a 25-meter lap pool, two hot tubs and a heated saltwater swimming pool surrounded by cabanas and BBQ pavilions. Guests can order barbecue packages from Mara to be self-grilled or prepared through a private chef service.

R.E.N. meetings and events programming includes both indoor and outdoor spaces for groups of up to 75 people, and the property is a mile from the Hawaii Convention Center and seven miles from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
