A number of hotel brands and management companies added to their portfolios recently with new openings.
Choice Hotels International
Cambria Hotels opened the Cambria Hotel Detroit-Shelby Township. The four-story, 98-room hotel is the brand's second hotel to open in Michigan, joining the Cambria Hotel Traverse City, while the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown is expected to open next year. The Cambria features on-site dining and to-go options, multipurpose indoor and outdoor spaces, an indoor heated pool, a fitness center and 1,500 square feet of multifunction meeting and event space. The Cambria Hotel Detroit-Shelby Township was developed by Koucar Management, which is also working to build the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown.
In addition, the Cambria brand made its official debut in Madeira Beach, Fla., with the grand opening of the Cambria Hotel St. Petersburg – Madeira Beach Marina. Madeira Hotel Investors developed the 125-room hotel, which is the brand's third Florida location. The hotel features a rooftop bar and infinity pool, a newly design marina, on-site dining and to-go options, multifunction meeting and event space and a fitness center.
Extended Stay America
Extended Stay America announced the opening of the Extended Stay America Melbourne Palm Bay located in Melbourne, Fla. The 124-room property features complimentary Wi-Fi, premium cable, a Stayfit fitness room, Stayclean laundry room, and the Stayplay lobby with additional vending options. The rooms include fully equipped kitchens with full-size refrigerators, stovetop, cookware, utensils and dishes, as well as pillowtop beds, recliners, workspace and television streaming capabilities.
Marriott International
The 108-suite Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in La Quinta, Calif., opened in December. LQ Hospitality Group owns the hotel and Sunridge Hotel Group manages it. Situated in the Coachella Valley, the hotel offers easy access to more than 30 golf courses, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Joshua Tree National Park, the Coachella Music and Arts Festival and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center – Twentynine Palms. The hotel features a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, a putting green, a full-service bar open for dinner, a patio with a grilling area, free high-speed internet, a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, guest laundry and 525 square feet of meeting space.
The SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Carlsbad has officially opened its doors. DKN Hotels owns and manages the property. The 104-suite hotel features a rooftop lounge with ocean views and fire pits. Other hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a complimentary breakfast, business services, complimentary Wi-Fi, and two meeting rooms with a combined 1,156 square-feet of functional space. Located in Carlsbad Village, the hotel is within walking distance of the area’s shopping, dining and entertainment options and near Camp Pendleton, Legoland California, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, The Crossings at Carlsbad, the Carlsbad Premium Outlets and downtown San Diego.
Crescent Hotels & Resorts has opened the new Residence Inn Milwaukee Brookfield (Wis.). The original Residence Inn by Marriott was opened in Brookfield in 1988 on the same land and was a “Gen 1” Residence Inn featuring 104 suites in 14 individual buildings located on 13.5 acres of land. That hotel closed in June 2017 for a construction and redevelopment project that included the new Residence Inn, Marriott’s latest “Gen 9” design concept. The new three-story hotel features 99 suites with fully equipped kitchens, a 535-square-foot meeting room, a fitness center, an indoor pool and two outdoor courtyards featuring a fireplace, fire pit and grill. Guests will also enjoy a complimentary full hot breakfast buffet, evening socials, a grab-and-go market, on-site bar and restaurant. Wimmer Brothers owns the hotel.
Remington Hotels opened the Residence Inn Steamboat Springs (Colo.). Cypress 16, developer of the project, and McClurg Century Investments selected Remington to open and manage the Residence Inn Steamboat Springs, Remington’s first property in Colorado. The 110-room, all-suite, new build hotel features rooms that range from 475 square feet to 675 square feet, with each suite featuring a fully equipped kitchen, king-size beds, a living room, a sleeper sofa and complimentary Wi-Fi. The property also features complimentary amenities including ski and bike storage, a 24-hour fitness center, a year-round heated outdoor pool and hot tub and a bar.
Maya Hotels opened the Aloft Mooresville (N.C.). The newly built hotel, which features 128 urban-inspired guestrooms, is Maya Hotels’ fifth hotel investment in Mooresville in the past 25 years. Located in the Langtree Lake Norman mixed-use development near Charlotte, the hotel provides grab-and-go offerings, an indoor pool, a fitness center and a bar.
Hilton
Hotel Equities announced the opening of the Home2 Suites by Hilton-Richmond (Ind). The 100-room all-suite Hilton hotel is owned and developed by The Witness Group. Hotel Equities manages the hotel via its Midwest regional office located in Ohio. The new hotel is one of nine Home2 Suites by Hilton-branded properties to join HE’s portfolio. The hotel offers all-suite accommodations with fully equipped kitchens and flexible furniture options. The hotel also features complimentary internet, communal spaces and Home2 Suites amenities such as Spin2 Cycle Center, a combined laundry and fitness area; Home2 MKT for grab-and-go items; and the Inspired Table, a complimentary breakfast that includes more than 400 potential combinations. It also offers an indoor saline pool and outdoor grills.
Yedla Management Co. has announced the opening of Home2 Suites by Hilton, the first of its four Walt Disney World gateway hotels in development at Orlando’s Flamingo Crossings Town Center. The Home2 Suites features a mix of 272 individual and conjoining rooms located 10 minutes from Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. Yedla, in partnership with Doradus Partners, will open three more hotels at Flamingo Crossings Town Center. A Homewood Suites by Hilton will open in early 2021, and Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott hotels are set to open in the spring. Once finalized, the four hotels are expected to employ 150 people.
