Hotel Zags Portland opens in Oregon

The Hotel Zags Portland opened this week in downtown Portland, Ore. The 174-room boutique hotel, managed by Sage Hospitality, is a member of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust’s Unofficial Z Collection, a line of lifestyle hotels focused on design, art, play and sustainability.

The hotel provides guests with access to a range of amenities. For those looking to explore beyond the hotel, the Gear Shed offers complimentary access to fishing poles, scooters, skateboards, hover boards, digital cameras and more. The Hotel Zags Portland’s “ABZ’s of Portland” series will host acoustic sessions with local musicians, terrarium-building classes and more, all led by local Portland creatives and entrepreneurs. At the hotel’s vintage vending machine, guests can find unique artwork created by local artists.

Onsite restaurant Nel Centro will serve dishes inspired by the cuisine of northern Italy and southeastern France. The hotel’s event space The Colosseum, at 1,600 square feet, can accommodate more than 90 people reception-style and features a pool table, life-size Connect Four and table shuffleboard.

“Business and leisure travelers alike can connect with the environment and experience Portland while enjoying our property’s modern elements and fun design,” Jon E. Bortz, president/CEO of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, said in a statement.

The hotel marks the sixth entry in the publicly trade real estate investment trust's Unofficial Z Collection, following Hotel Zetta San Francisco, Hotel Zelos San Francisco, Hotel Zeppelin San Francisco, Hotel Zephyr Fisherman’s Wharf and Hotel Zoe Fisherman’s Wharf. Pebblebrook owns 61 hotels, for a total of 14,600 guestrooms, with locations in 10 states and Washington, D.C.
