Hotels, resorts open across U.S., Caribbean

A number of cities across the country (and in the Caribbean) have opened their doors in recent weeks. 

Chicago

The 215-room Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop has opened as the first Hilton lifestyle property and first Canopy by Hilton hotel in Chicago. The new lifestyle property at the former site of the Chicago and North Western Railway headquarters joins the recently opened Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop to become a dual-branded complex with a total of 350 guestrooms.

The complex has two on-site restaurants, two meeting and event spaces, an on-site fitness center and an outdoor terrace space. The project was developed by Chicago-based Phoenix Development Partners and is operated by Aimbridge Hospitality.

Allentown, Pa.

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened the Hyatt Place Allentown / Lehigh Valley and Hyatt House Allentown / Lehigh Valley, the area’s first dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House project. 

The dual-branded project includes the Aster event center with 5,900 square feet of meeting and event space. The properties also have indoor and outdoor seating areas with a fire pit and grilling area, sundeck, and outdoor dining areas. The ground level includes a 24-hour fitness center, a 2,400-square-foot pool area, and the 24/7 H market with grab-and-go options. The properties also have an onsite restaurants. 

The hotels were developed and are owned by the Jaindl Land Co. and operated by TKo Hospitality.

Vail, Colo.

The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort, has opened in Vail, Colo., as a rebranding of the former Vail Marriott Mountain Resort. Owned by DiamondRock Hospitality Co., the new resort concept in the Rocky Mountains has opened after a $40 million renovation, including an entirely revamped arrival and lobby experience, reinvigorated outdoor spaces and four new culinary concepts. The resort is Marriott International’s only Luxury Collection alpine resort in North America.

The property has 344 rooms including 22 suites and 16 residences.

Denver

The 264-room Hyatt Centric Downtown Denver has opened in the Mile High City. The property has a new seasonally inspired restaurant, Apple Blossom, helmed by local restaurateurs Paul C. Reilly and Aileen V. Reilly. The 15th floor includes a rooftop terrace, meeting space, a penthouse Presidential Suite and a workout center.

The property is close to the Colorado Convention Center, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Coors Field, Ball Arena, Union Station and Larimer Square. 

Dominican Republic

The Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana has officially opened its doors on Playa Juanillo in the Dominican Republic. The resort has 228 suites and 40 villas as well as an Entertainment Village that serves as the main entertainment hub of the property with live performances on two stages, 10 food-and-beverage venues and a St. Somewhere Spa.

The resort is the first purpose-built and second property under the Island Reserve brand, which combines Karisma Hotels & Resorts’ all-inclusive amenities with Margaritaville's lifestyle vibe.
