The 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City officially opened its doors this week as the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Utah and the only hotel directly adjoining the Salt Palace Convention Center. Hyatt operates the property for owner Salt Lake City Convention Hotel, a joint venture with Portman Holdings and Hensel Phelps Development. The builders approached city officials with their proposal in 2018 and announced the selection of Hyatt as the operator in January 2020.

“The development of Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City has been in the works for a long time,” GM Pina Purpero said in a statement. “The project was envisioned by Salt Lake County and industry partners more than 10 years ago to address the growing demand of large-scale events. The ethos of the Hyatt Regency brand was a natural fit to bring this vision to life, adding modernity and vibrancy to the city’s central core.”

Designed by Portman Architects, the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City has 700 guestrooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows. Each guestroom has separate seating areas and a smart mirror vanity. The hotel's rooftop Sundance Terrace has a pool, cabanas, fire pits and a 24-hour fitness center.

The hotel also has four distinct dining venues on property: Contribution, an upscale street-facing lounge; The Salt Republic; the Market for snacks on the go; and the sixth-floor rooftop for Mar | Muntanya by Executive Chef Tyson Peterson.

The hotel can hold gatherings of up to 2,875 people, with the largest indoor hotel ballroom in Salt Lake City and the largest outdoor rooftop space in the city. Additional meeting spaces include 21 flexible breakout rooms, prefunction areas and a second ballroom. The space also includes a Broadcast Lounge, one of the first to debut from the Hyatt Regency brand, allowing guests the option to attend a live conference in a hybrid manner.
