Marriott opens Tribute Portfolio hotel in Raleigh, N.C.

In Raleigh, N.C., The Casso, Raleigh, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel has officially opened under its new name. The property was named after Casso’s Inn, one of Raleigh’s largest hotels in the 1700s and 1800s and the registered birthplace of U.S. President Andrew Johnson in 1808. It previously operated as the Origin Raleigh, a Wyndham Hotel, and then as Hotel 83.

The 126-guestroom hotel has meeting and event spaces, a fitness facility and a full-service restaurant and bar. The social spaces have art installations, including a larger-than-life mural of Sir Walter Raleigh, the city’s namesake, in the lobby. Each floor is designed around a different locally inspired theme, with every space meant to connect guests back to the community. The history of the Warehouse District is also evoked through the hotel's interior design, which includes industrial millwork, concrete floors, exposed ductwork, patterned tiling, modern furniture and bright colors.

“We’re proud to officially open our doors as The Casso, celebrating character and social nature, while furthering our connection to this city’s rich past,” said Todd Buchko, the hotel's general manager.

The hotel is within walking distance to Raleigh’s new social district, Red Hat Amphitheater and the Raleigh Convention Center. The property is managed by Pyramid Global Hospitality and is part of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio.
