New hotels open in urban hubs

While urban markets may be struggling, several cities across the Midwest and South are getting new branded hotels. Here are three recent openings.

Miami

The Radisson Red Miami Airport has opened in Florida. The new, multimillion-dollar property was developed and is owned and operated by Riviera Point Development Group. The property is five minutes from Miami International Airport and less than 5 miles from Wynwood, Little Havana and downtown Miami.

The hotel has 157 pet-friendly guestrooms and suites. Public spaces include an outdoor pool, a fitness center and a 2,000-square-foot event space that can seat up to 100 guests. The onsite restaurant, OuiBar + Ktchn, is an indoor-outdoor spot adjacent to the lobby, while the rooftop bar serves cocktails. Miami muralist Daniel Fila curated the artwork collection, and 14 local artists contributed work.

Cincinnati

The historic Ingalls Building, which originally was built in 1903 as the world’s first reinforced concrete skyscraper and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, has reopened as the first Courtyard by Marriott hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The 16-story property is owned and managed by Sree Hotels of Charlotte, N.C. General Manager Vernon Burchett leads the management team for Sree Hotels.

The downtown hotel, Sree’s fourth in the neighborhood and sixth Courtyard overall, is 14 miles from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. HGC Construction oversaw the renovation.

The Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Downtown has two levels of public space, anchored by The Bistro casual dining restaurant and bar. The hotel also has a fitness center in the former bank vault, laundry facilities, a business library and a 24-hour market. The guestrooms include six loft-style, bi-level suites with 20-foot ceilings and 15-foot windows. Each room also has a desk on wheels that lets guests work from anywhere in the room, a mini refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker.

Nashville

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened the Staybridge Suites Nashville-Midtown in a former fire station. Owned and operated by Tharaldson Hospitality Management, the property is the company’s 15th under the Staybridge Suites brand.

Staybridge Suites Nashville-Midtown has 164 guest suites. The public areas include a full bar (Station 350), free laundry facilities, storage closets, an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center.
