Sonesta has opened the Red Lion Inn & Suites Philadelphia, a 45-room, select-service property close to the Center City business district.
“Sonesta’s portfolio continues to grow with the addition of the first Red Lion Inn & Suites location in Philadelphia,” Keith Pierce, EVP and president, franchise and development, Sonesta, said in a statement. “This opening evidences our dedicated expansion across all segments of our business with a focus on key city centers.”
The hotel is the third Red Lion Inn & Suites to open this year, bringing the company's total to 34 hotels open nationwide.
Philadelphia includes many sites of historical significance from the American Revolution including Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, Museum of the American Revolution, Carpenter’s Hall (meeting place of the First Continental Congress), City Tavern, Declaration House and The Betsy Ross House. Downtown Philadelphia is notable for its cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries. Local cultural attractions include The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Kimmel Center, Barnes Foundation and Rosenbach Museum.
