Romer Waikiki opens as conversion of Honolulu hotel

Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador, a conversion of the former Ambassador Hotel Waikiki in Honolulu, opened earlier this month after a multimillion-dollar update.

The 368 rooms are available a variety of layouts, from two-bedroom suites to lofted bunkbed rooms. The rooms are designed in a muted pastel color palette along with the texture, shades and shapes of Oahu’s scenery. A custom-fit lava rock wall runs along the perimeter of the lobby to reference Hawaii’s volcanic landscape, and a curated gallery wall displays work by local artists such as J.D. Nālamakūikapō Ahsing, Susan Maddux, Brennan Alex and Kris Goto.

The lobby also has a cart with snacks available from 8-11 p.m. every evening and a coffee cart in the mornings. A Swim and Social Club is slated to open by the third-floor pool, and a new open-air restaurant will open in 2024.
