Sonesta opens hotels in Chicago, Southern California

Sonesta International Hotels Corp. opened two new hotels: the 334-room Royal Sonesta Chicago Riverfront and the 335-room Sonesta Irvine (Calif.) – Orange County Airport. The Royal Sonesta Chicago Riverfront marks the company’s third in the Chicago area and its first Royal Sonesta in Illinois, while the Sonesta Irvine stands as its third full-service hotel in California.

The Royal Sonesta, formerly the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront, is located near the Loop, Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park and the Theatre District. It features 18 meeting spaces totaling 16,000 square feet, including space overlooking the Chicago skyline. The hotel also includes a restaurant and 24/7 fitness and business centers.

The Sonesta Irvine also rebranded from a Wyndham hotel. The hotel is located minutes away from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport and offers easy access to local corporate headquarters. It features 11 venues totaling 7,500 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, an indoor pool and a restaurant and bar.

"We are excited to welcome visitors at the new Royal Sonesta Chicago Riverfront and Sonesta Irvine – Orange County Airport while we expand our presence in the United States and specifically in two growing regions for us: the West Coast and Midwest,” said Carlos Flores, Sonesta's president/CEO, said in a statement. “Their locations in major tourist and business hubs make them an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers to each destination.”

Including these two additions, Sonesta has more than 55 properties in the United States and more than 80 properties worldwide.
