Hay Creek Hotels and Restaurants, a subsidiary of Victory Hotel Partners, has formed a joint venture with Royal Property Group, a company that owns and operates independent and boutique hotels in Central America and the Caribbean. The new venture will focus on acquisitions and development throughout that region, emphasizing third-party management and joint-venture opportunities.

Royal Realty currently operates The Charlee Hotel and Luxé by the Charlee in Colombia, and has an additional property slated to open in 2023.

“We are thrilled to be among the few U.S.-based hospitality companies operating hotels in Central America,” Hay Creek CEO Gary Sims said in a statement. “Colombia, particularly Medellín—known as the city of eternal spring—is an extraordinary destination and was recently ranked #3 in Forbes list of the world’s best cities for its food and drink, nightlife scene and remarkable community spirit. With this venture, we are well on our way to becoming the preferred operator in this region and are grateful to Royal Property Group for affording us this opportunity and putting their trust in us.”

The hotels being added to the portfolio are:

  • The Charlee Hotel is a design-forward boutique hotel in a modern tower overlooking Parque Lleras in Medellín’s Zona Rosa. This 42-suite hotel has of a number of culinary options offering international cuisine, a rooftop bar/lounge with an aquarium-style pool, a boutique gym and more than 2,500 square feet of event/meeting space.
  • Luxé by The Charlee is in a forest in Guatapé with views of the Guatapé reservoir. The hotel offers lake activities, a private beach club and restaurants.

“Our joint venture with Hay Creek Hotels and Restaurants is part of our long-term strategic growth plan to develop and operate world-class assets in the Latin America and Caribbean markets. Hay Creek has a highly successful track record of managing upscale boutique and lifestyle brands in the U.S. and we are excited about bringing the professional management to our organization,” Angel Seda, principal of Royal Property, said in a statement.
