Seven hotels gain new management companies

New management companies have taken over operations at a number of hotels.

Greenwood Hospitality Group

Greenwood Hospitality Group has assumed management of the Tulsa (Okla.) Club Hotel, a member of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The 96-room, upper-upscale property is listed on the National Trust for Historic preservation in the Oil Capital Historic District. Designed in 1927 by architect Bruce Goff, the 11-story structure became a local landmark due to its art deco architecture. The club closed in 1994 and was abandoned for decades until Ross Group Development began its transformation of the property into a hotel. The Tulsa Club Hotel, which opened in 2019, is close to many local attractions. The property includes more than 7,000 square feet of social space, a lobby bar and a restaurant.

Hotel Equities

Hotel Equities was selected to operate the new-build Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Myers Airport hotel in Florida. The property will have 101 guestrooms and suites and is being developed by ownership group Shivam Soham. The hotel is expected to open early in 2021. Communal areas feature an open, pod-style desk area and flexible seating including community tables with built-in wired and wireless charging stations. The fully equipped guestrooms offer a variety of configurations and additional amenities include a swimming pool, a board room, a fitness center and continental breakfast. The hotel’s location is near JetBlue Park, the Boston Red Sox spring training facility, and CenturyLink Sports Complex, the Minnesota Twins spring training facility. The hotel is 8 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport and 30 minutes to the Fort Myers beaches.

Aimbridge Hospitality

Aimbridge Hospitality will operate voco - The Franklin New York. Voco is the newest upscale brand launched by IHG Hotels & Resorts, and the property's opening is the brand's first in the United States. Centrally located on New York City's Upper East Side, voco - The Franklin New York is within walking distance to Museum Mile, Central Park and the Madison Avenue shops. The 50-room property originally was built in 1930. Owners Andrew and Stephen "Chip" Weiss Jr. of Flintlock Construction and Andrew Kaplan invested $3 million or $60,000 per key, in an extensive renovation. An additional $1 million is being spent on a destination restaurant's buildout to open next year.

Donohoe Hospitality Services

Donohoe Hospitality Services, a division of Donohoe, added three hotels to its portfolio: the newly built 156-guestroom Canopy Baltimore Harbor Point; the 214-guestroom Hyatt Place Washington, D.C., National Mall; and the 135-suite Homewood Suites by Hilton in Reston, Va. Several more hotels are expected to come online in the coming months. Since the beginning of 2020 Donohoe Hospitality has increased its portfolio 44 percent and added an additional 800 guestrooms, including the newly built dual-branded Hampton Inn & Suites/Home2 Suites by Hilton Las Vegas.

Davidson Hotels & Resorts

Development Services Group tapped Davidson Hotels & Resorts to manage the Kimpton Harper Hotel, a new hotel slated for opening in spring 2021. Located in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, in close proximity to the Fort Worth Convention Center and Sundance Square, the 226-room Kimpton Harper is operated by Davidson’s lifestyle and luxury division, Pivot Hotels & Resorts, and housed within the historic Farmers and Mechanics National Bank landmark building. Upon completion, the hotel will feature a penthouse bar and lounge; a restaurant and bar; 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space; and a rooftop observation deck.
