New Orleans hotel launches glass recycling program

The Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans is working with with Glass Half Full, a local glass recycling company, to develop a premium recycling program. The hotel is the first property in the city to collaborate with the platform, according to the company.

Glass Half Full was launched to divert glass from landfills. When a single glass bottle is placed in a recycling bin, the entire load is sent to the landfill. Glass Half Full developed a solution for collecting glass and then crushing the glass to be reused in productive ways such as sand for coastal restoration projects, sand bags for disaster relief efforts, eco-construction and new glass products.

“We are thrilled to partner with Glass Half Full while contributing to sustainability efforts of New Orleans,” Windsor Court Hotel GM Ralph Mahana said in a statement. “Our hotel team is excited to be a part of this effort and look forward to rolling this program out in all spa, culinary and beverage outlets to start and then shortly expanding to the entire hotel, including guest rooms and meeting space where guests can be a part of the effort.”
