Nobu Hospitality, AWC to open Plaza Athenee hotel in Manhattan

Nobu Hospitality has partnered with Asset World Corp. to open the Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa New York, a 145-room hotel development on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York CIty.

Located on 64th Street between Park and Madison Avenues, the hotel will have suites with indoor and outdoor glassed terraces. The property will also have a townhouse rental option. The suites will have indoor and outdoor glassed terraces and gazebos while the townhouse will have exclusive service. Amenities include a traditional Japanese onsen bathing facility as well as a spa and wellness center.

Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa New York will also have a Nobu restaurant serving an omakase experience—a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave their order up to the chef. The hotel will also include a bar and lounge and a rooftop area for private parties.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, AWC will oversee the overall development of the project, along with its conceptualization and design. The partnership has also announced plans for the development of The Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok in Thailand. The projected development cost was undisclosed.

"We are privileged to collaborate closely with the AWC team, led by visionary CEO, Khun Wallapa Traisorat, who is spearheading an exciting and innovative approach to the hospitality industry," Nobu Hospitality CEO Trevor Horwell said in a statement. "The Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok and the Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa New York will redefine the standards of luxury and sophistication not only in Thailand but also in the U.S. This partnership allows us to embark upon an extraordinary journey together.”

The announcement follows an exclusive agreement AWC signed with Nobu Hospitality in July to open the first Nobu restaurant in Thailand on the top floor of The Empire, AWC's flagship lifestyle mixed-use office complex in the central business district of Bangkok.
