Courtyard by Marriott opens in Gainesville, Ga.

The new Courtyard by Marriott Gainesville, Ga., has opened as the city's largest hotel. The property anchors a mixed-use development complex known as The National, a redevelopment of Gainesville’s long-vacant First National Bank by developer and owner, Capstone Property Group. The project partners are Reese Vanderbilt, Ecker Construction, McKibbon Places and McKibbon Hospitality.

“Courtyard Gainesville is officially open for business, rounding out our offerings at The National,” Jeffrey Payne, chairman of Capstone Property Group, said in a statement. “It’s been incredibly rewarding working on this project, watching our vision come to life and effectively transforming the downtown Gainesville landscape. We couldn’t be prouder to introduce two inviting new venues for Gainesville visitors and residents to work, stay, play and enjoy.”

The 77,000-square-foot property has 130 rooms and five suites across seven stories. Amenities include a fitness center, flexible work and gathering spaces throughout the property and an outdoor terrace. Courtyard Gainesville is close to restaurants, boutiques and venues, including Boot Barn Hall at Bourbon Brothers and Brenau Ampitheatre, with Lake Lanier a short drive away.

The hotel’s food and beverage team has been tapped to provide catering services for The National’s new conference and event space neighboring the hotel, The Vault at The National.

Courtyard by Marriott Gainesville, as well as The National and The Vault at the National, were developed by owners Capstone Property Group. Reese Vanderbilt Architects oversaw the architecture and interior design of the hotel with Ecker Construction as the general contractor and McKibbon’s development and renovations arm, McKibbon Places, overseeing the development and construction of the project. The company’s hospitality management arm, McKibbon Hospitality, has been charged with operating the hotel and The Vault.

Courtyard Gainesville marks the company’s 100th hotel in the town where the company got its start nearly 100 years ago. Additionally, the hotel is located just one block from the site of the company’s first hotel project and just blocks away from McKibbon Hospitality’s Gainesville office.
