Raines opens renovated N.C. hotel and golf club

Hotel development, management and investment company Raines has opened the newly renovated Waynesville Inn & Golf Club in Western North Carolina, a property that has experienced several transformational milestones since its days as a local dairy farm in the early 1920s.

“Our goal was to create a place where members and guests can enjoy both the laid-back charm of the mountains and the comfortable, updated amenities,” Raines managing partner David Tart said in a statement. “We took great care to preserve the Inn's history while adding conveniences that today's guests appreciate, bringing the past and the present together."

Raines's acquisition of the property in April 2021 was followed by two years of renovation and rebranding under the direction of Woven by Raines. The 165-acre property now has 72 newly refurbished guestrooms, an 18-hole golf course and practice facilities, 6,000 square feet of event space, an event lawn and several dining options.

The legacy of the historic Donald Ross-designed golf course was paramount to Raines’ vision. "Our focus was on honoring the course's historic roots while infusing it with the demands of modern golf,” said Bobby Weed, founder of Bobby Weed Golf Design. “The resulting design showcases a blend of tradition and innovation within a stunning mountain backdrop." The Club has practice facilities, a new fleet of  golf carts and uninterrupted mountain views from its 3,000-foot elevation point.

The property's onsite facilities have been substantially upgraded and diversified to include a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, a business center and pet-friendly guestrooms.
