Radisson signs second hotel for Algeria

Radisson Hotel Group has signed a deal to open the Radisson Hotel La Baie d’Alger in Algiers, the company's second hotel in Algeria and first Radisson-branded hotel in the country. The hotel will be owned by Bay Invest Company SARL.

"We are pleased to be adding our second hotel to Algiers, the capital of Algeria and the largest urban area in Africa, with the introduction of our Scandinavian-inspired Radisson hotel brand," said Elie Younes, EVP/chief development officer, Radisson Hotel Group, in a statement. "Algeria is a growth market for us in Africa and Algiers is a key city for hotel expansion." Younes noted that the new hotel would complement the recently opened Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra, and would boost the market's "limited quality" hospitality supply.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, international arrivals to Algeria are expected to reach 4.5 million by 2027 and the direct contribution of the travel and tourism industry to the gross domestic product is poised to rise 4.5 percent per year from 2015 to 2025.

The new-build Radisson Hotel La Baie d’Alger is scheduled to open in 2022 in the city's El Hamma district. The 184-room hotel will have an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, a gym, a spa and 308 square meters of meetings and events space across five meeting rooms and one conference venue.

The hotel will be 17 kilometers northwest of Algiers International Airport, and will also be close to the Port of Algiers.

Radisson Hotel Group has almost 100 hotels open and under development across 32 countries in Africa.
