Dallas hotel completes renovation

The Canvas Hotel Dallas has emerged from an extensive renovation. The final phase of the design overhaul, led by Dallas’ own Studio 11 Design, focused on local culture, community and art with 76 remodeled guestrooms, a refreshed Gallery Rooftop Lounge, meeting space and an upgraded lobby.

Each guestroom has exposed brick walls and tonal colors to optimize natural lighting. Concrete floors give the rooms modern lines and suggest a blank canvas. Each room also has local artwork by Dallas artists including Corey Godfrey, Ginger Fox and more. The art through the property has been curated by local art consultancy SemosMauldin and Lou Verne, Studio 11 Design’s art, curation and styling vertical. All works showcased in the guestrooms are available as limited-edition fine-art prints for purchase.

The overall refresh of the rooftop and pool area includes decorative lighting, clustered seating, layered rugs and colorful tones throughout. Many of the elements used throughout the rooftop utilize original and repurposed components, such as the wood planks on the façade of the bar to maintain a sense of place. The lounge also will serve as a gallery space where the property will feature rotating art exhibits.

The design changes to the hotel are tied together by the revamped entrance and lobby area with styling by Lou Verne. The lobby’s artwork creates a multicolored gallery experience for visitors to enjoy local art, as well as a shuffleboard and a pool table.

The hotel is managed by Evolution Hospitality and was developed and is co-owned by Matthews Southwest.
