Oxford Hotels & Resorts, the Chicago-based hotel management and branding affiliate of Oxford Capital Group, has opened The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa. Formerly known as The Bay Harbor Hotel & Conference Center, the property started its transformation in October 2015.
The renovation added 15 new guestrooms and updated all of the hotel’s existing guestrooms and suites, which got new hardwood flooring, marble countertops, new mattresses, new double-sink vanities, frameless walk-in showers, backlit LED mirrors, new furnishings, and nautical-inspired room accents.
The lobby renovation, meanwhile, added a café and wine bar, reinvented the resort’s waterside restaurant and bar and made improvements to the exterior.
Oxford’s principals collaborated with The Gettys Group for the renovation. The design firm used tropical influences from the hotel’s location off of Tampa Bay’s coastline.
The lobby has a new social table that doubles as a communal workstation with electrical outlets, and a lounge area with a new lobby-level café and wine bar.
The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa has 276 nautical-inspired guestrooms, including 14 suites, each with views of Tampa Bay from the rooms and newly-installed balconies. The guestrooms also have Wi-Fi connectivity, 42-inch flat screen televisions, Keurig coffeemakers and a mini-refrigerator.
The hotel has 7,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting space, in addition to meeting options on the pier.
The final phase of the renovation is the complete reconstruction of the hotel’s pier, eyed to be completed in the spring of 2018. This final phase will see the addition of a South Beach-style outdoor pool and cabanas lounge.
Crystal Rivera is the GM of The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa.
The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa is the fourth Godfrey property announced in Oxford’s national portfolio of hospitality brands, which include the flagship Chicago location (2014), Boston (2016), and the Godfrey Hollywood, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2019.
