In Maine, the Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club, the newest hotel of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection, opened with fully redesigned accommodations, a new Marina Bar, and private garden landscaping.
Louise Hurlbutt of Hurlbutt Design oversaw the renovation of the 30-room property overlooking the Kennebunk River and located near downtown Kennebunkport. The resort’s location next to the Kennebunkport Marina inspired the redesign.
The new Harborfront Bungalows have white shiplap walls, high ceilings and boutique-style furnishings in shades of mango, magenta and blue. The rooms have king beds with statement headboards custom-made by Hurlbutt Design and with fabrics from Quadrille Fabrics.
Décor pieces include navy lacquer dressers and bedside tables with brass hardware and lamps in green and blue. There are also accent rugs by Hurlbutt Design, striped pillows and artwork. The private baths have stand-up showers with glass doors, Carrara marble, golden Kohler fixtures and marble floors.
Glass doors lead to an outdoor terrace with seating, a pocket garden landscaped for privacy and views of the Kennebunk River. Ted Carter Inspired Landscaping of Buxton, Maine, designed and enhanced the room and riverside landscaping throughout the property.
