Park Hyatt Toronto reopens after renovation

Hyatt Hotels Corp. and Oxford Properties have reopened the restored Park Hyatt Toronto hotel.

The hotel evokes Canadian heritage, art deco and literature. The hotel collaborated with designer Alessandro Munge of Studio Munge, who drew inspiration from Canada's natural landscapes.

Park Hyatt Toronto has a permanent art collection highlighting pieces from Canadian and indigenous artists. A new public art sculpture “Rendezvous” by Canadian artist An Te Liu as well as “Dead Ringers,” a large-scale tapestry in the lobby by Canadian artist Shannon Bool are on display.

The hotel has 219 guestrooms, including 40 suites. The presidential suite on the 14th floor includes a foyer, a chef’s pantry and dining room, a study and a living room grounded by a stone-clad fireplace with champagne metal accents. The stone-tiled bathroom has a double vanity, glass-enclosed double rain shower, and a free-standing soaker tub overlooking Yorkville.

Joni, a new restaurant inspired by Toronto’s arts and culture scene, is in the middle of the hotel. The hotel’s rooftop cocktail bar, now known as Writers Room, pays homage to the history of literary legends that stayed in the hotel. The space reflects the bar's historical significance with views of the Toronto skyline.

A spa and wellness destination are slated to open at a later date.
