Savannah's Kimpton Brice wraps propertywide renovations

The Kimpton Brice in the historic district of Savannah, Ga., has completed a full-property yearlong refresh. The renovations included the hotel’s lobby, guestrooms, corridors, meeting rooms, pool terrace, garden and on-site restaurant, Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar.

The Los Angeles-based interior and architectural design firm Forchielli Glynn was tapped to develop the hotel’s new look, which combines the brand’s contemporary identity with traditional Southern style.

The lobby has a communal sofa to promote socialization, iron rod artwork (evoking historical gates and entryways to Savannah estate homes) and gold accent fixtures. Various seating layouts help create meandering pathways encouraging flexible socialization, including a custom-made cane settee close to books and objects on display, along with a movable beverage cabinet.

The full restoration of the 145 guestrooms, which includes 25 suites, pays homage to traditional qualities found in Southern homes and reimagines that with contradictory elements—hard and soft, colorful and quiet, energetic and restful, playful and serious, tailored and lush. A color palette of gray and white speak to the city’s history, connecting to its native brick color with the infusion of greens and fuchsia linking to the hotel's garden and ethereal elements found throughout the squares and homes surrounding the area.

Designed to be a focal point, Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, the on-site restaurant and bar, has charcoal wood furniture and a neutral color scheme. The new furniture pays tribute to coastal Italian towns.

With accent shades of bright summer colors, the refreshed concepts for the Pool Terrace and Secret Garden slightly differentiate from the rest of the hotel while creating a thread of continuity through a black-and-white base palette. The pool area has all-new chaise lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas, and the Secret Garden has more designated areas for outdoor dining, including bench seating. The cocktail area in the Secret Garden now includes a concrete communal table with a nearby fire pit for post-dinner nightcaps.
