Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina undergoes $40M renovation

JPR started working on the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, which is in the middle of a $40-million transformation courtesy of Strategic Property Partners (SPP), which acquired the hotel in 2014. The renovation will include updates to the public spaces, lobby, meeting space and guestrooms.

Upon completion, the hotel will increase its guestroom stock from 719 rooms to 727 rooms. Designed by Loony & Associates, the new guestrooms will be inspired by the adjacent waterfront, blending minimalist and coastal elements.

The Tampa Marriott Waterside will also enhance its food and beverage offerings. Designed by The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry, the hotel will have a new outdoor terrace and bar that will open up to the Tampa Riverwalk. Meanwhile, a new sports gastropub will replace the existing Champions Sports Bar, which will include new outdoor patio seating and direct street access.

Located adjacent to the Tampa Convention Center, the property has 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space with views of the water and of downtown Tampa, including the Grand Ballroom, Florida Ballroom, 13 conference venues and two boardrooms. The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

Located on the Hillsborough Bay, The Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina was originally built in 2000.
