Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas completes first phase of renovation

The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has completed the first phase of a multimillion-dollar, property-wide renovation. The non-gaming, non-smoking, 389-room property updated all guestrooms and suites, 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space as well as the arrival and lobby area.

The design of all 389 guestrooms (including 84 suites) evokes the surrounding desert landscape with a neutral color palette contrasted by warm colors. The updated guestrooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with views above the Las Vegas Strip. Guestroom bathrooms also have soaking tubs. The signature suites, which include the Penthouse Panorama Strip View Suite and Presidential Suites, also have a new design, updated wallcoverings, new furniture and pops of jewel-toned accents.

The new arrival area moved the former 23rd-floor front desk and lobby to the ground floor with an Art Deco-inspired design. The expanded space has new furniture, European wallcoverings and landscaping in the porte-cochere. A nod to the desert meadows of Las Vegas, the new lobby and porte-cochere renovation took architectural inspiration from the Waldorf Astoria New York and Nevada’s Hoover Dam, with emerald accents evoking the surrounding desert plant life. The new lobby has more than 11,000 square feet of Calacatta Gold marble imported from Italy, two-story-high ceilings, a custom-designed crystal chandelier, gold and emerald furniture accents and textured fabrics. The new lobby also includes artwork from contemporary Italian artist Angelo Musco, known for his large-scale figurative works, and visual artist Casper Faassen, who specializes in mixed-media photography and art.

More than 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space has been updated, including a balcony with views of Las Vegas Boulevard. The property has 14 different meeting and event spaces, including the Waldorf Ballroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural light and are inspired by the surrounding landscape, including the desert motif seen in the new carpet patterns and wallcoverings.

Phase two of the project is slated to begin in spring 2024 and will be designed by the Rockwell Group. The next phase will include the introduction of the Peacock Alley on the hotel’s 23rd floor. This space will serve as a tea lounge as well as a forthcoming new bar concept with views of Las Vegas Boulevard.
