Westin Los Angeles Airport debuts renovations

Located near the SoFi Stadium, The Westin Los Angeles Airport unveils an extensive $45 million renovation. The hotel underwent a transformation to match Los Angeles’ ongoing tourism boom, as well as LAX’s extensive multi-billion-dollar modernization project.

“Los Angeles is in the midst of a major renaissance—and fittingly, The Westin Los Angeles Airport was reborn in 2024,” GM Mark Goldrup said in a statement. “Combined with our enviable location, just a few miles from the beach in addition to easy access to the city’s urban and cultural attractions, this renovation will make the property one of Los Angeles’ premier hotels.”

The centerpiece of The Westin Los Angeles renovation is the reimagined lobby and lounge area. Connecting guests to nature, the biophilic design used throughout the property includes water elements, native Southern California plant life and organic, natural materials. Cues from the locale’s original occupants, the historic El Segundo Blue Butterfly, are illustrated through form and movement, as organic shapes and stylized patterns are incorporated and echoed from the nearby oceanside landscape.

“Through our partnership with world-renowned hospitality design firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates, the metamorphosis of The Westin Los Angeles Airport is simply stunning and like no other Los Angeles property,” Goldrup said. “The renovations couldn’t [have] come at a better time as we are one of the first properties to incorporate the new Westin Well initiatives into the design, aligning perfectly with the ethos of L.A. residents and culture.”

The renovation includes a new Topgolf Swing Suite, 45 newly installed EV charging stations in the parking lot, updated and enhanced meeting space including a 13,100-square-foot ballroom with 18-foot ceilings and natural light, as well as a theater space. Another new amenity includes the recently launched Westin LAX sunset finder, which lists spots near the hotel curated by locals for guests to find great sunset views along the coast. The modernized pool area is also in its final transformation phase.

To accompany the current RUNWESTIN running concierge, which supplies guests with personal, local running guides to accompany them on diverse scenic routes of three to five miles, this month the property launched a dedicated surf concierge to take guests on a guided experience in the California waves. Whether novice or pro, all surfers will benefit from a local's knowledge and expertise in navigating the best beaches, tide patterns and breaks near the hotel.
