KS Hotels Group streamlines accounting processes

Two RKS Hotels Group properties in Alberta, Canada, will go live with PVNG by Aptech this month. The enterprise accounting solution will automate all general ledger, accounts payable, statistics, financials and bank reconciliation processes in the cloud for the Four Points by Sheraton Edmonton South and the Travelodge by Wyndham Edmonton West hotels. Aptech is an IBM and Prophix business partner offering hospitality-specific, web-enabled business intelligence, budgeting and back-office systems.

RKS Hotels was looking for better reporting and a more thorough breakdown of revenue per available room and average daily rate, along with more flexibility within accounts payable. Already familiar with PVNG while working with other ownership groups, Lakhbir Bains, the accounting associate for RKS Hotels, suggested the group make the switch to generate more hotel-specific reports that are not available in the general software program.

Bains said because Aptech is designed specifically for hotels, the custom reports generated for each hotel will make accountants’ work easier. The digital statements enable them to calculate food costs, ADR, and RevPAR more accurately. Integration of PVNG with other property systems also makes PVNG a big time saver for RKS Hotels Group, he said.

“The user-friendliness, functionality and accuracy of PVNG when compared to QuickBooks is night and day,” Bains said in a statement. “Being able to upload data directly into the Opera Cloud PMS used by Travelodge, for example, is a game changer. Rather than having to access reports manually, we can now pull information automatically based on whatever criteria we need. Soon the Lightspeed PMS used at our Four Points property will have direct integration to PVNG as well, and then the whole accounting process will run smoother than ever.”
