Verdant to launch new app, program at The Hospitality Show

Commercial energy-management company Verdant is launching a new mobile app and energy-service optimization program for hotels.

“Travelers are returning and many say they are willing to spend more in 2023 than the previous year—that’s the good news,” Verdant General Manager Michael Serour said in a statement. “The bad news is, hotel rates are higher because energy costs are higher, and so are the costs of goods, services, and labor. Verdant’s ZX and VX series thermostats are designed to slash energy costs across the board. Whether rooms are occupied or vacant, Verdant has the technology in place to monitor and control energy use. That’s great news to everyone’s bottom line.”

Verdant’s thermostats combine passive infrared occupancy-sensing technology and intelligent cloud software to set back temperature while rooms are unoccupied. Property staff can manage and monitor energy use online, 24/7. Patented features like Night Occupancy Mode and Dynamic Intelligent Recovery are meant to help save energy without compromising guest comfort.

“Whether hoteliers choose a ZX or VX series thermostat, installation is simple and takes less than 10 minutes per room,” Serour said. “The units create a 100 percent wireless network that can be used by our energy experts to manage a hotel’s network. Most properties achieve annual savings of 15-20 percent on their utility bills, and a payback period between 12-18 months. That’s thousands of dollars back in owners’ pockets every year and a significant boost to a property’s overall value.”

New Features

The enhanced Verdant mobile app comes with an improved key performance indicator dashboard for optimal system performance tracking. Features include an ROI tracker, added resale value, real-time view on active alerts and rooms that aren’t saving energy and real-time room occupancy status. The system facilitates easier alert tracking and detailed guidance with an advanced search option for rooms with HVAC alerts or warnings. Step-by-step guidance is also available for issue resolution. Overall, the app provides more control over user management and enables specific app access to property-staff based on what is relevant to them (housekeeper vs GM vs. engineer, etc.). User access can also be scheduled if needed with dedicated start and end dates.

The new Energy Savings Optimization Service provides monthly energy savings reports, customized system alert emails, dedicated support rep and priority support as well as rolling stock and lifetime warranty

Verdant has established door lock integrations with Onity, Dormakaba and Assa Abloy as well as PMS integrations with Opera, Fosse, OnQ, LightSpeed and HotelKey with more slated to join. Virtual routing and forwarding provider integrations include LG and Mitsubishi with Carrier/Toshiba set to launch soon.

Verdant at The Hospitality Show, HITEC

This week, Verdant will display its digital thermostats both at HITEC Toronto, June 27 to 30 in Booth 607 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, and at The Hospitality Show, June 28 to 29 at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.  Company leadership also will discuss plans to expand in Europe early next year. In May, Blackstone completed the acquisition of a majority stake in the Emerson Climate Technologies business—which included Verdant—and the new standalone business is now operating as Copeland to serve the global HVACR market.

“Inflation may have cooled off a bit, but electricity costs continue to heat up,” Serour said. “The only way to maximize energy savings without impacting guest comfort is to invest in a proven energy-management solution.”
