Crawford Hoying acquires Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton

Crawford Hoying acquires the Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton in partnership with hotel owner, operator and developer Shaner Hotel Group. Other terms were not disclosed. This will be Crawford Hoying’s first hotel in Hamilton, Ohio and the 15th hotel in the company’s portfolio.

Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton is located in downtown Hamilton, near the Marcum Park and numerous dining, retail and entertainment establishments. The 120-key hotel consists of three event rooms and breakout rooms, with more than 5,800 square feet of event space. In addition, hotel guests have access to 24/7 fitness center and an indoor heated swimming pool.

The Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton is located near Crawford Hoying’s recently announced 17-acre mixed-use development at the current Cohen Recycling site. The development is set to include multi-family, retail and office space, as well as an additional hotel with Shaner, allowing for leveraged management capabilities across both hotel properties.

“We could not be more excited about the acquisition of this asset and furthering our long-term commitment to the City of Hamilton," Matt Starr, EVP of commercial real estate for Crawford Hoying, said in a statement. “For the City of Hamilton, this represents the beginning of a new chapter. The community came together to acquire and re-flag the hotel nearly 15 years ago, and Crawford Hoying will now make a significant investment in the property to re-establish the hotel’s presence in the marketplace.”

The Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton marks a continued expansion of Crawford Hoying’s portfolio, following the acquisition of Homewood Suites Columbus OSU in September. This represents the second hotel acquisition in collaboration with Shaner within the last five months and adds to the impressive total of 15 hotels within our company's growing portfolio.

“We are thrilled to add this acquisition in our continued partnership with Crawford Hoying,” said Plato Ghinos, president of Shaner Hotels. “We continue to look for additional opportunities to acquire quality properties that complement our current portfolio of 70-plus hotels.”
