Marriott International has entered into a joint venture with the Leali family, founders of Lefay, to incorporate the luxury wellness brand into its global portfolio.
The partnership, announced in late March, establishes Lefay as Marriott’s first brand dedicated exclusively to luxury wellness. Lefay properties will be integrated into Marriott International’s digital channels and participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, with integration expected to be completed in late 2026.
Founded in Italy in 2006 by Domenico Alcide and Liliana Leali, Lefay operates immersive resorts in natural settings and is known for its Lefay SPA Method, which combines scientific research with holistic wellness traditions.
The brand’s approach emphasizes wellness, sustainability and integration with the surrounding environment, with offerings that include both à la carte treatments and structured multi-day wellness programs. The current portfolio comprises two properties in Lago di Garda and the Dolomites, with additional resorts under development in Tuscany, Southern Italy and the Swiss Alps.
Under the structure of the transaction, the joint venture will own the Lefay brand and intellectual property, while the founders retain ownership of the Italian real estate assets. Properties will continue to operate under long-term management agreements. Marriott International will support expansion through its global development, sales, marketing and distribution platforms, while maintaining Lefay’s brand identity.
