Scarlett Hotel Group buys Wisconsin Best Western

The Scarlett Hotel Group has purchased the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center, located in Oshkosh, Wis., from Oshkosh Investors. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The property will begin a major renovation this fall. Longtime employee David Helgeson, who previously was director of sales, will remain with the hotel as the general manager.

“I’m proud to have been with the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center for more than 10 years now,” Helgeson said in a statement. “We have a strong team that’s dedicated to this community, whether it’s putting on the perfect wedding by the lake or serving the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to Oshkosh each year.”

The Best Western has been in downtown Oshkosh for more than 35 years. It is 1 mile from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and has 176 guestrooms and 5,600 square feet of meeting space in the convention center. The Oshkosh Convention Center, which is owned by the city, will be managed by Scarlett Hotel Group.

“The convention center is a mainstay for the community and visitors from all over Wisconsin and the country," said Zio Pekovic, principal and co-founder of SHG. "This is a great opportunity to invest in the property and put Oshkosh in a position to be able to capture more group business, which will benefit the hotel and local business community.”
