British lighting manufacturer Original BTC has launched the Shard line of chandeliers.
The two chandeliers that make up the line, which be available this spring, are crafted from bone china. Available in two sizes, a laser-cut British-made steel frame acts as the chassis onto which either 30 or 42 biscuit-finish matte tiles are suspended.
Made by hand at Original BTC’s Stoke-on-Trent factory, the long, rectangular tiles have a raised ribbed section and contrasting smooth sides to create a decorative ambient light output. Each fitting is finished with a base of toughened, low iron Birmingham-made glass, sandblasted on one face to softly diffuse the bulbs within.
“The multi-faceted forms work to maximize the material’s translucency, luminosity and versatility,” said Charlie Bowles, director of Original BTC.
