Grand Cayman resort to get island-inspired upgrades

The Grand Cayman Marriott Resort is set to start a renovation of its rooms and suites in May, inspired by the atmosphere of the island. The waterfront property’s look will blend “beachy” hues and organic textures with minimal lines and black metal accents to mimic the modern coastal style of Grand Cayman. The property will upgrade all the beds to true kings and queens with Sealy mattresses and will add 65-inch flat-screen TVs, fiber optic internet for increased connectivity, integrated lighting, upgraded surfaces and flooring.

“After the renovation of the common areas of the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort a few years ago, we truly wanted to extend that sense of place of a cozy house by the sea to our guestrooms,” Hermes Cuello, GM of the hotel, said in a statement.

As part of the renovation project, the hotel will reposition its 15 junior suites by completely redesigning the space. New features include a partition to divide the bed and sitting areas for additional comfort and privacy. Four new family guestrooms will have custom bunk beds and additional storage. Each of the hotel’s one-bed suites will be renamed Ocean Suites. Seventy-five percent of the bathrooms will get walk-in showers while the other 25 percent will have larger tubs.

The hotel’s room count will increase from 299 to 301.
