LAS VEGAS — During the first full day of The Hospitality Show, held here at The Venetian Resort, the American Hotel & Lodging Association held its first General Managers Summit, presenting its 2023 General Managers of the Year awards.
Winners in specific categories were:
- Select Service: Harold Daniels, Travelodge by Wyndham Memphis;
- Full-Service: Katie Ward, Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Airport
- Resort: Brian Kramer, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa;
- Independent: Chris Sommers, Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa; and
- Extended Stay: Michelle Davis, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Orange Beach.
Michael O’Keith Smith, GM at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans and 45-year industry veteran, was presented with the AHLA General Manager Lifetime Achieve-ment Award.
The General Managers Summit event will be held annually and bring together hotel GMs from across the country to hear from speakers, share best practices, network and celebrate the industry’s best GMs via an awards ceremony.
