Hotel Indigo Raleigh to reopen in October after reno

IHG’s Hotel Indigo brand is poised to enter the Raleigh market with the opening this fall of a newly repositioned 19-story property.

Hotel Indigo Raleigh—originally built in 1969—has been redeveloped into a 204-room boutique hotel. The $36 million renovation preserves the building's exterior while modernizing the interior.

New York, NY-based Tidal Real Estate Partners acquired the property in 2021. The hotel will be the third Hotel Indigo property in North Carolina, joining locations in Asheville and Winston-Salem.

The hotel will be managed by Denver, Colo.-based Sage Hospitality Group, which has begun hiring leadership positions and expects the property to employ nearly 100 people when fully operational. The opening comes as downtown Raleigh prepares for growth tied to the planned $400 million expansion of the Raleigh Convention Center campus.

“This building has been part of the Raleigh skyline for decades, and we’re excited to give it a fresh new future,” Ken Copeland, president of Tidal Real Estate Partners, said in a statement. “People will recognize the exterior immediately, but once they walk inside, it’s a completely different experience, full of unexpected indulgence around every corner.”

The hotel will have 204 guestrooms and suites, a ground-floor café and gathering space, meeting facilities and a penthouse cocktail lounge and event venue on the 19th floor overlooking downtown Raleigh.
