Hospitality management firm Lodgco Hospitality plans to convert two Sarasota, Fla., properties to the Ascend Collection by Choice Hotels International.

The hotels—currently operating as Ameniti Bay and Magnolia Pointe—will be renamed Caretta Bay Sarasota and Coral Pointe Sarasota, respectively. Effective July 1, the properties will join Ascend Collection, Choice Hotels’ portfolio of independently operated upscale hotels.

The rebranding includes new identities inspired by Florida’s coastal environment. Caretta Bay takes its name from Caretta caretta, the scientific name for the loggerhead sea turtle, while Coral Pointe references the region’s marine ecosystem. Both hotels will continue to be managed by general manager Ashleigh Gonzalez, who oversees operations at the two properties.

“Joining the Ascend Collection allows us to combine the individuality and local character of these properties with the power of Choice Hotels’ global distribution and loyalty platform,” Scott Stuart, president of Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Lodgco Hospitality, said in a statement. “We are confident this move will drive increased visibility, guest satisfaction and long-term performance. The storytelling behind Caretta Bay and Coral Pointe also allows us to connect with our guests and our community.”

“This is a very positive step forward for our hotels, our teams and our guests,” added Gonzalez.
