California hotel adds fitness recovery lounge

Aktiv Solutions, FitnessDesignGroup and Hyperice have partnered to install Recovery x Hyperice Bays at the Claremont Club & Spa—A Fairmont Hotel in Berkeley, Calif.  The addition comes as an extension of the hotel’s fitness and spa programming. The new Aktiv Recovery Lounge was designed by FitnessDesignGroup and is powered by Hyperice technology.

“The Claremont ... is a blueprint for exercise experience across hospitality globally and now includes a new battery of modalities in rejuvenation and recovery,” said Emlyn Brown, global VP of wellbeing for Accor Hotels.

The Claremont Club & Spa has spent nearly $50 million in renovations since its rebranding as a Fairmont hotel. The new space was developed to create a bridge between the intensity of gym training sessions and the Claremont’s spa services.

The modernization of the new recovery space was led by the functional design team at FitnessDesignGroup and supplied by Aktiv Solutions via their collaboration with Hyperice. The space has Gym Rax personal recovery bays, each providing digital guidance and recovery-based equipment designed to complement pre- and post-training sessions.

The Fairmont’s new lounge design is in keeping with the property’s mandate of bright, airy interior space that includes panoramic picture windows.
