Avani Hotels & Resorts adds third property to Dubai pipeline

Avani Hotels & Resorts will continue its growth in the UAE with the addition of the Avani Hotel Suites & Branded Residences to its development pipeline. UAE-based Alfahim is developing the hotel and residences in Dubai as Avani's third property in the city.

The 48-story new-build property will be the first Avani residences in the region when it opens in 2020. The new Avani Hotel Suites & Branded Residences will have 527 guestrooms with 263 Avani Residences and 264 Avani Serviced Apartments designed by U.S.-based AECOM. The Residences will be marketed to investors as a sale and lease-back product.

The upcoming hotel and residences will join Avani's two additional properties in Dubai—the existing Avani Deira Dubai and the Avani Ibn Battuta Dubai, which is scheduled to open in 2019. Minor Hotel Group, Avani's parent company, is partnering with UAE-based developer Nakheel to develop the 372-guestroom hotel, which will be connected to the Ibn Battuta shopping mall.

The two new Dubai properties will bump Avani's total hotel inventory up to 25 operating in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Seychelles, Mozambique Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, the UAE, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and Laos.

Avani launched its brand extension Avani+ in Luang Prabang, Laos earlier this month. The city-center Avani+ Luang Prabang has 53 guestrooms and suites near the Mekong River, Royal Palace and the Night Market.

Also in the Asia-Pacific region, the Elements Boutique Resort on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand joined the Avani Hotels & Resorts portfolio in early February 2018. Avani renamed the resort on Taling Ngam Beach as the Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas Managed by Avani Hotels & Resorts. Two months prior, Avani opened the Broadbeach Gold Coast Residences on Surf Parade in Australia to further expand its Asia-Pacific portfolio.
