The Cyrus Hotel prepares to open in Topeka, Kan.

Aparium Hotel Group is preparing to open the 109-room Cyrus Hotel in downtown Topeka, Kan., on Jan. 29.

The property combines historic buildings with a modern, new-build tower, a ground-floor restaurant and bar, an outdoor patio, and meeting and event spaces.

Located at 920 S Kansas Avenue, the hotel is near Downtown Topeka Plaza, a $9.5-million revitalization project featuring gardens, performance spaces, a splash park and an ice rink and set to be completed in 2020. The hotel is proximate the Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center, Topeka Performing Arts Center, the Jayhawk Theatre and other points of interest.

“With a celebrated cultural history and a large-scale development project underway, Topeka is a city that’s brimming with potential,” said Kevin Robinson, co-founder and principal of Aparium Hotel Group.

“Every element of Cyrus Hotel, from the design to the amenities and beyond, has been carefully curated to ensure the property is reflective of its home, Topeka,” said Mario Tricoci, co-founder and CEO of Aparium Hotel Group. “We’re excited to not only expose Topeka to the world by attracting discerning travelers, but to become a source of pride for locals.”

For example, The Weather Room, Cyrus Hotel’s flagship bar and restaurant, will offer a range of shareable dishes, a house-cured charcuterie program, hand-made pastas and locally-sourced proteins. Additionally, Cyrus Hotel collaborated with local businesses and purveyors to provide on-site offerings and amenities, including small-batch chocolates from Hazel Hill Chocolate, popcorn from Cashmere Gourmet Popcorn, wines from boutique winery KC Wine Co., beer varieties from The Iron Rail Brewery, Blind Tiger, Happy Basset Brewing Co. and Norsemen Brewing Company, single-origin specialty coffees and blends from PT’s Coffee, and hand-picked fruit from Rees Fruit Farm.

Additional guest and amenity services will include complimentary Wi-Fi and 24/7 access to the fitness center.

Named for Cyrus K. Holliday, a Civil War hero and pioneer of the Transcontinental Railroad who literally put Topeka on the map, Cyrus Hotel was designed by Avenir Creativ in partnership with Architect One.
