Jamaica's Eclipse at Half Moon to open in March

The Jamaican resort Half Moon is set to open the Eclipse at Half Moon luxury resort on March 1.

The addition of Eclipse at Half Moon creates a triumvirate of accommodation options under the Half Moon brand, following Founders Cove at Half Moon and Rose Hall Villas at Half Moon, located at opposite ends of the 400-acre property.

When it opens, Eclipse at Half Moon will have 57 accommodations; two restaurants; three bars; a market café, Fern Tree, A Salamander Spa; an infinity-edge swimming pool; and private beachfront with a natural swimming cove.

Designed by design firm Hart Howerton of New York, the resort will embrace the history of the Caribbean and Jamaica's natural beauty. The enclave's Great House, inspired by the island's culture and style, will have shutters, and use vibrant colors and local artwork. A sweeping arrival experience will be framed by a large Guango Tree, also known as a Rain Tree, one of over 70 trees that were replanted to ensure mature natural surroundings.

Rooms and suites will have views of the Caribbean Sea and feature outdoor living spaces. The resort will also introduce the Great House Ocean Suite, which will overlook the Grand Lawn and feature vantage points for both sunrises and sunsets.

For dining, the property will have Delmare, an Italian seafood restaurant located directly overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The restaurant will have local artwork, including a specially commissioned coral reef inspired wall sculpture created by Jamaican artist David Pinto.

Overlooking the infinity-edge pool and white-sand beach, North Pointe Pool Bar will showcase driftwood-inspired architecture. Lester's Bar draws inspiration from Michael Lester's painting, “Junkanoo,” which will be displayed above a selection of rums. Meanwhile, The Maakit Café will serve takeaway snacks, pastries and beverages.

Fern Tree, A Salamander Spa will have two overwater bungalows for massage treatments and yoga classes.

The addition of Eclipse is part of an extensive plan to add numerous amenities to accompany Half Moon's offerings, which currently include a Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed golf course, and the Sugar Mill restaurant.

Half Moon is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts (PHR) Legend Collection. In total, Half Moon has 215 rooms and suites along two miles of beachfront and a variety of amenities and activities, including numerous restaurants and bars, Fern Tree – a Salamander Spa, a Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, a fitness center with 11 tennis courts, an equestrian center, a children's village and water sports.
