Hilton to open its first Cambodian hotel in 2022

Hilton signed a management agreement with real estate development group GFC Company Limited to operate its first hotel in Cambodia. The 280-room Hilton Phnom Penh, to be a part of a mixed-use development in Cambodia’s capital, is slated to open in 2022.

“As we expand the flagship brand, we are hyper-focused on introducing hotels in locations where travellers want to go, and global interest in Cambodia continues to increase at record-breaking speeds,” Vera Manoukian, senior vice president and global brand head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement.

The hotel will offer several dining spaces, including an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a café and a lobby bar. It will provide more than 1,500 square meters of function space, including an 875-square-meter ballroom. The hotel also will feature a fitness center, swimming pool and executive lounge.

Located 9 kilometers (less than 6 miles) from Phnom Penh International Airport, the hotel will be located near some of the capital’s famous landmarks, including the Art Deco-styled Phnom Penh Central Market and Vattanac Capital Tower.

“Cambodia as a destination is on a growth trajectory, with global businesses establishing a presence in the capital city and the government investing into its infrastructure to boost its tourism appeal,” said Guy Phillips, Hilton’s SVP, development, Asia & Australasia. “It is a great time to be entering the market, and we are delighted to have signed with our partners GFC Company Limited to build a new, brand-defining Hilton hotel in a great location within Phnom Penh.”

Hilton currently operates 40 properties across nine markets in Southeast Asia. Over the next three to five years, it is targeting opening 54 more hotels, including its first Canopy by Hilton in the region. Its Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand encompasses 585 hotels across six continents.
