Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels to open The Peninsula London in 2021

The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels has broken ground on The Peninsula London hotel and residences in London's Belgravia neighborhood. The project will have a 190-guestroom hotel and 24-28 residential apartments, which are scheduled to open in 2021.

As part of the development, affordable housing will be at Buckingham Palace Road in Westminster. The entire project is expected to generate over 2,000 jobs and an additional expenditure of £60 million to the London economy annually.

The Peninsula London hotel was designed by UK-based Hopkins Architects Partnership while Peter Marino Architect has designed the interiors. Archer Humphryes and CAP Atelier are designing the food and beverage outlets, with specialist lighting designed by Speirs + Major. WSP and Cundall are handling engineering services. The development and project manager is Prime Development, Sir Robert McAlpine is handling construction management, and Arcadis is handling cost management. Demolition by Keltbray is almost complete and piling by Cementation Skanska is now underway.

The Peninsula Hotels portfolio includes The Peninsula Hong Kong, The Peninsula Shanghai, The Peninsula Beijing, The Peninsula Tokyo, The Peninsula New York, The Peninsula Chicago, The Peninsula Beverly Hills, The Peninsula Paris, The Peninsula Bangkok and The Peninsula Manila. Projects under development include The Peninsula London, The Peninsula Yangon and The Peninsula Istanbul.
