Hyatt names new leader for LatAm development

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has named Camilo Bolaños the company’s new SVP of development for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Bolaños, who previously was VP of real estate and development for Hyatt, is now responsible for leading Hyatt’s development strategy in the Latin America and Caribbean region to drive growth across the Timeless Collection, Boundless Collection and Independent Collection brand portfolios. He reports to Pete Sears, Hyatt's Americas group president.

To meet its growth goals in the Americas region, Hyatt is strengthening its development team deployment with leadership spearheading efforts across the U.S., Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. David Tarr, SVP of development for the Americas, will continue leading Hyatt’s development in the U.S. and Canada. Tarr’s continued leadership and dedicated focus will help bolster Hyatt’s strong pipeline and growth strategy, which is experiencing extraordinary demand from the leisure segment.

“Latin America and the Caribbean continue to play a key role for the Americas region’s growth for Hyatt as leisure travel continues to fuel demand. As we look ahead, we are incredibly optimistic about our intentional expansion and further investing in resources to champion regional growth strategies,” said Sears. “Camilo has been a true asset to growth of our brands in Latin America and Caribbean, and I look forward to the continued positive impact he will make as we introduce new brands in new markets that matter most to our guests, World of Hyatt members and customers.”

In his previous role as VP of real estate and development for the Americas, Bolaños was focused on development and strategic business planning with an emphasis on Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Bolaños joined Hyatt in 2009 and has led the development and completion of real estate transactions for more than 50 projects. He also held senior level positions at companies like Real Hotels and Resorts, Avianca Airlines and Carlson Restaurants Worldwide.

Hyatt continues growing its brands in Latin America and the Caribbean. So far this year, Hyatt has opened Hotel La Compañía, the first hotel to open as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Panama, as well as well as Hyatt Centric San Salvador, Hyatt’s first lifestyle hotel in El Salvador.
