Hyatt Ziva/Zilara to open flagship properties in Dominican Republic

Hyatt will open new properties in the “Beverly Hills” of the Dominican Republic this November. Architect Ken Shannon oversaw the design of the adults-only Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana and the family-friendly Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana.

Zilara's design is more sophisticated with a bold and edgy design for adults, while Ziva is playful with softer lines and vibrant colors making it a family-friendly. Shared design features include moveable wall elements, swim up suites, and a connecting, elevated vista lobby overlooking the pools and ocean below.

The resort will have an underground spa inspired by cenotes, including a larimar stone infused sky-lit lagoon and the DR’s first Himalayan Salt Lounge.

“Village Street” will connect both hotel lower levels with highly themed outlet façades and food and beverage offerings including an Indian restaurant with an actual dine-in train car and a French Polynesian restaurant surrounded by black bottom pools.

Modeled to look like an old rum distillery, the fitness center will have a brick warehouse vibe and outfitted with hanging punching bags to pay homage to the DR’s love of boxing.

A double “U” complex design will give guests ocean views in suites.
