IHG signs first Voco for Southeast Asia

Less than a year after the brand launch, IHG has signed a management agreement with B&G Estate Co. for a new-build Voco in Bangkok, Thailand, the first in Southeast Asia.

When it opens in 2021, the Voco Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 will have 300 guestrooms, a swimming pool and pool bar, a fitness center and meeting facilities for up to 400 guests.

"Bangkok represents an excellent launch market for one of the newest additions to our brand portfolio,” said Clarence Tan, managing director, Southeast Asia and Korea, IHG. “This signing continues the accelerated growth of the Voco brand since we launched it last June.”

The owner, B&G Estate Co., is a Bangkok-based company that owns and operates a retail and corporate property, Interchange 21, and has plans to grow its hospitality portfolio.

The signing of Voco Bangkok follows the November opening of the first Voco in the world, the Voco Gold Coast in Australia.

IHG has 24 hotels operating under the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Hotel Indigo brands in Thailand, with another 27 in the development pipeline for the next three to five years.
