My Place Hotels begins development on second Nebraska hotel

My Place Hotels of America began development on Nebraska’s second My Place hotel, located in Hastings. Construction will soon commence on the three-story, 46-unit hotel at 200 East 31st Street. As Hastings’ first extended-stay hotel, My Place will serve the area’s many visitors with the newest and best accommodations for short- and long-term stays.

Hastings’ newest hotel is independently owned by DJ&R Investments and operated by Venerts Hotel Management. It is the first My Place Hotel developed by the DJ&R partnership. Larry Schnase has been a co-owner of the Comfort Inn of Hastings for the past 21 years.

“The segment of extended stay lodging has not been addressed in the past with other hotels, and the My Place brand offers a new-build hotel with all of the amenities a guest may want for one or many nights,” Harry Dworak, project manager on the development, said in a statement. “Providing a quality lodging experience has been what Larry feels is essential in building guest loyalty and long term repeat business.”

Terry Kline, My Place EVP of franchise development, said My Place is confident the Hastings location will fill the underserved niche in the Southern Nebraska market. “We are extremely pleased to partner with Larry Schnase and the team at DJ&R  as construction commences on their first My Place Hotel! Their demonstrated leadership in hotel ownership and customer service will make this location an excellent addition to the My Place family,” Kline said in a statement.

All My Place Hotels offer modern amenities at an affordable price including nightly, weekly and monthly rate options. Each extended-stay guestroom has a My Kitchen, complete with a two-burner cooktop, a microwave and a full refrigerator. The property is pet friendly, includes on-site laundry facilities, complimentary high-speed internet service and a 24-hour My Store, located in the hotel lobby and stocked with an array of supplies for the guests’ convenience. Additionally, guests are invited to enjoy the new Breakfast in Bed option for a minimal cost.

My Place Hotels of America currently has 39 hotels open and operating with a near-term pipeline of 75 additional hotels and midterm commitments for upwards of 40 more hotels to follow.
