The Santa Monica Proper Hotel is scheduled to open on June 17 in Santa Monica, Calif. Located at 700 Wilshire Blvd., the property will fuse a circa-1928, Arthur E. Harvey-designed Spanish Colonial Revival building with new construction to create a new 271-room hotel.
Designed by interior designer Kelly Wearstler, the building has Spanish architecture and Moorish details throughout. Local artists and designers add a touch of Santa Monica elements. The new building is monolithic in nature with a natural, organic palette and furnishings that evoke the beach with décor reminiscent of what one would find along the shore.
The property will also have three restaurant/bar destinations, including a first-ever collaboration between chefs Jessica Koslow (Sqirl) and Gabriela Camara (Contramar); fitness center with yoga terrace; and a rooftop pool, deck and restaurant/bar. The property will also have the Surya Spa from Ayurvedic guru Martha Soffer.
