SOM designs upcoming James Los Angeles

Denihan Hospitality Group is scheduled to debut the James Los Angeles this November. When the property opens, it will be the first new-build hotel in the Los Angeles neighborhood in nearly 30 years. The 10-floor property, the brand’s first on the West Coast, is located at La Cienega on the Sunset Strip. It will be part of CIM Group’s Sunset La Cienega mixed-use project in West Hollywood.

Designed by SOM, the hotel will honor the property’s natural surroundings with a palette and materials influenced by the Pacific Ocean and the landscape of the Hollywood Hills and San Gabriel Mountains.

The James Los Angeles will have 286 rooms. There will be two penthouse loft suites, two bungalow suites, 18 loft suites and 13 one-bedroom suites, all of them with natural views. The rooms will have walnut and white oak armoires and bathroom vanities with green and blue hues, as well as brass and blackened metal accents, and woodwork on the furniture to create a residential feel.

The project will also have a 190-unit residential building and about 40,000 square feet of retail space.

The Great and Overlook rooms will be among the hotel’s more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Both will have large windows and geometric lighting.

The property will also have a main pool deck, including custom wood cabanas with decorative rope canopies along with other furnishings.

There will also be two restaurants and a rooftop bar.

The James Los Angeles will be the fourth hotel operating under the brand, joining locations in Chicago and New York, among others.
