The Gwen to open new restaurant from Carrie and Michael Nahabedian

The Gwen, A Luxury Collection Hotel, partnered with James Beard Award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian and Michael Nahabedian for a new restaurant scheduled to open late summer in the Michigan Ave. hotel. The restaurant will be in the former location of Circa, which will soon begin renovation.

The restaurant is a family affair for the Nahabedians, who will also be joined by Michael’s brother, Tom Nahabedian on the design of the project. Heis a principal at Bureau|AD and is responsible for the design of Naha and Brindille, the latter of which won a James Beard Award for outstanding restaurant design in 2016.

Carrie will manage the menu creation and cuisine direction for the restaurant, while Michael will manage the beverage program.

Located at 521 N. Rush St., The Gwen, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Michigan Ave. Chicago, resides in the landmark McGraw-Hill building, which has an Art Deco façade complete with bas relief sculptures by Gwen Lux, the hotel’s namesake. The hotel has 311 guestrooms, including 34 suites. For dining, the property has Upstairs at The Gwen and The Terrace at Upstairs at The Gwen, a seasonal terrace with cityscape views.

Michael Ditterline is the general manager of The Gwen.
