Caribbean resorts, other properties appoint GMs

Two Caribbean resorts and other hotels across North America have appointed general managers in recent weeks. Here are some names to know. 

Andaz Turks & Caicos

Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay has appointed Matt Skaletsky general manager.

Skaletsky has held a range of leadership roles across the luxury hospitality industry, with experience at renowned brands including Montage and Ritz-Carlton. Most recently, he was general manager of Hyatt’s Alila Ventana Big Sur in California. Earlier in his career, he held positions across the Caribbean; the Florida Keys; Washington, D.C.; San Diego; Aspen, Colo.; and Maui, Hawaii. 

Skaletsky is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, S.C.

The Hotel Maverick

The Hotel Maverick in Grand Junction, Colo., appointed Jason Kusel general manager.

Kusel joins Hotel Maverick with more than 20 years of experience leading luxury resorts, boutique hotels, golf communities and food & beverage operations across Colorado. He has held executive leadership positions with The Water Valley Company, overseeing flagship properties Pelican Lakes Resort & Golf and Raindance National Resort & Golf, as well as Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton. 

JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown

The JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown has appointed Amanda Joiner general manager. This role marks Joiner’s return to Atlanta, where she first began her career more than 30 years ago as an area director of sales and hotel manager at the Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta on Peachtree Street.  In 2015, she became the general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis.   

In 2023, Joiner became global vice president of the Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center in St. Louis, where she led a global consulting and advisory firm. 

Joiner received her bachelor’s degree in Commercial Recreation and Facility Management from Central Michigan University.  

Park Hyatt Mexico City Polanco

The upcoming Park Hyatt Mexico City Polanco appointed Christophe Hilty general manager to oversee the hotel’s pre-opening journey ahead of its expected early 2027 debut. When it opens, the property will mark the brand’s debut in Mexico City.

Hilty joins Park Hyatt Mexico City Polanco following senior leadership roles across some of the world's most celebrated ultra-luxury hospitality brands. His career spans multiple tenures with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, across properties in Riyadh, Los Angeles, London and the Seychelles, as well as the Dorchester Collection's 45 Park Lane in London, Le Richemond in Geneva, and an opening general manager appointment at Cheval Blanc Paris, LVMH's flagship urban hotel. Most recently, he was vice president of global operations at CORE: New York.

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Utah’s Zion Canyon, has appointed Nadia Santacruz general manager.

Before joining Red Cliffs Lodge Zion, Santacruz was general manager at Hyatt Place Page (Ariz.)/Lake Powell. Before that, she was the restaurant manager at Amangiri in Canyon Point, Utah.

The Resort at Pelican Hill

Jordan “Jordy” Robinson is the new GM at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, Calif.

Most recently, Robinson was hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles and JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, where he oversaw dual flag-ship properties.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

In Hawaii, the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa appointed Kaleo Kenui general manager. 

Most recently, Kenui was dual general manager of the Residence Inn and AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea from 2016 to 2026. He also held director of operations roles at the Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui, and Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Earlier in his career, Kenui contributed to several hotel openings, including Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Oceanside and Courtyard by Marriott Maui Kahului Airport, and supported operational systems transitions across Marriott’s Hawai‘i full-service properties.

The Westin St. Thomas

Davidson Resorts has appointed Carlos Macias general manager of The Westin St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Originally from Ecuador, Macias began his career supporting his family’s restaurants across Quito, Ecuador and Charlotte, N.C. He started working with Omni Hotels & Resorts, starting as a barback and in-room dining server at Omni Charlotte before completing Omni’s management training programs. Macias continued rising through leadership roles at large-scale and luxury properties, including Omni Orlando Resort, The Ballantyne Hotel, Lansdowne Resort, and Baker’s Cay Resort in the Florida Keys. Most recently, Macias was hotel general manager at the Nobu Hotel Miami Beach and general manager at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, Fla.
